From Software’s ‘Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice’ Coming in 2019

From Software’s next game is called “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” and it’s coming sometime in 2019, Microsoft announced Sunday during its E3 press conference.

In “Sekiro,” the player is a hard-hearted warrior on a mission to rescue his master and exact revenge on his arch nemesis. Like From Software’s “Dark Souls” series, it is a third-person, action-adventure game with RPG elements. But, it looks faster-paced than its more methodical predecessors and it trades in the “Souls” series’ dark fantasy aesthetic for a Japanese setting.

This is From Software’s first project since wrapping up the “Souls” series with “Dark Souls 3” in 2016. That game broke day-one sales records for publisher Bandai Namco and reportedly outsold its predecessor by 61%. Although Bandai Namco hasn’t released official sales numbers, it said “Dark Souls 3” is currently its fastest-selling game ever.

“Sekiro” is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in early 2019. It will be published by Activision Blizzard.

Edit: Earlier, we said “Sekiro” was a Xbox exclusive, but that is incorrect.
